IRVING - Funeral services for Tommy Leon Raney, 62, where held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at The Heartland Church, Irving. Burial followed in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.

He died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, following a brief illness.

He was born May 9, 1946, in Abilene to Cleveland Raney and Wanda Louise (Austin) Raney. He attended schools in Brownwood before he graduated from Baird High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for one year before he received an honorable medical discharge. He was a Christian and worked at the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Robason) Raney; sons, Bryan Raney and his wife, Teresa, Mark Raney and his wife, Amy; five grandchildren; and his siblings, Terry Raney, Janet Kelly, Bobby Raney, Glen Raney, Rodney Raney and Stacy Raney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John; and a brother, Stevie.
