MERKEL — Mary Roeder, 50, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at her home.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Starbuck Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Raney officiating. Burial will be in the White Church Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    Mary was born Aug. 30, 1960, in Newport Beach, Calif., to Calvin and Jean (Martin) Roeder. She graduated from Merkel High School in 1978 where she was a twirler. Mary was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Funston. She was a great cook who enjoyed making crafts and was addicted to TV “soaps”. She was forever a Merkel Badger and Dallas Cowboy fan. She was always her son’s guardian angel, strong willed and could do anything she put her mind to. She loved her dog, Miati.

    Survivors include her son, Zach Catledge of Merkel; two sisters, Yvonne Peterson and husband Rick of Hurst, Sherry Roeder and Craig Pool of Tyler; her step-father, Travis Swinney and wife Carolyn of Abilene; grandson, Conner O’Neal Catledge of Corpus Christi; maternal grandparents, Jim and Mary Martin of Brownwood; two nieces, Jessica and Shyanne; one nephew, Bradley; and her soulmate, Miati.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Roeder and Jean McCleskey; and a step-father, Jerry McCleskey.
