Jimmy E. “Jim” Hill, 74, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, in San Angelo.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Johnson’s Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Brantley-Gearhart and Bob Ewing officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Jim was born Feb. 8, 1935, in San Angelo, Texas, to Thomas Durward and Mattie Wilkerson Hill. He graduated from Lake View High School in 1953 and attended Hardin-Simmons University. He was married to Nancy Wells on Dec. 22, 1955. They were married for 18 years. He later was married to Joan Reid McFaul on March 1, 1998, and they were

blessed with 11 eventful years together. Jim was pastor of many churches over the years, devoting his life to serving God and the church and its various communities. He was pastor of First Baptist Church in Millersview, First Baptist Church in Sonora, First Baptist Church in Brady, First Baptist Church in Christoval, First Baptist Church in Ackerly, First Baptist Church in Fabens, First Baptist Church in Ira, First Christian Church in Colorado City, Lakeview Christian Church, First Christian Church in McCamey, First Baptist Church in Elkins, Ark., and First Christian Church in Snyder, Texas. He was affiliated with the Baptist River Ministry doing mission work in Mexico.

Jim is survived by his wife, Joan, of San Angelo; one son, Tommy Mack Hill and wife Jeanie, of Converse; two daughters, Julie Farris and husband Scott, of Seguin, and Jennifer Vickers and husband Tom, of Brownwood; one brother, Thomas D. Hill and wife Shirley, of Fayetteville, Ark.; one sister, Wanda Pennington and husband Harlan of Lawton, Okla.; three granddaughters, LeeAnn Cloud, of Seguin, Vanessa Hill, of Kissimmee, Fla., and Barbara Hill of Converse; four grandsons, Wesley Farris, of Las Cruces, N.M., Tommy Mack Hill Jr., of Converse, and Bryce Vickers and Kirk Vickers of Brownwood; and one great-grandson, Casey Cloud of Seguin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Randy Hill.

Pallbearers for the service will be Bryce Vickers, Tommy Hill, Wesley Farris, Jeremy Cloud, Gary Hill, Scott Farris and Kirk Vickers.

The family requests that memorials be made to The West Texas Boys Ranch or VistaCare Hospice of San Angelo, Texas.
