Memorial services for Charley Dee Phillips will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Milton Avenue Baptist Church.    

    He passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, in Galveston after a long illness. He gave his heart to God in February, 2010, with love and friendship from Chaplain Gomez of Galveston.

    He was born Feb. 19, 1953, in Levelland, Texas, to Les Phillips and Mary Boykin.

    He is survived by his mother, Mary Boykin; two daughters, Angela Phillips of Brownwood and April Phillips of Mesquite; a son, Charley Jr. of Daylon, Texas; two grandsons, Marcus Phillips and Brice Davis; a granddaughter, Zoie Phillips of Abilene; aunt, Shorty Ferguson and husband Pete; and two special brothers in Christ, Tommy and Jon Revard.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Phillips; wife, Donella Morris Phillips; and a brother, David “Monty” Moncrief.
