Funeral Services for Fred Falkner, 79, of Brownwood, Texas, will be held 7 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Don Davis officiating. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, in the East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton, Texas. A viewing and visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Church of Christ in Fort Stockton.

He passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Fred Weldon Falkner was born on July 8, 1929, in Odessa, Texas, to J.D. and Bernice Marie Clement Falkner. At the age of 16 he graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1946 and attended Texas Tech University. On June 2, 1951, he was married to Loretta Criswell in Fort Stockton. He was a member of the Fort Stockton Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and in 1978 he helped organize the Fort Stockton EMS where he served as the EMS Chief until 1992. In 1987, he retired as a test tire analyst from the Firestone Test Center. He was also a professional photographer. Mr. Falkner had lived the past 17 years in Brownwood, Texas, and was a member of the Cross Plains Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Falkner of Brownwood, Texas; one son, Ken Falkner of Elk City, Okla.; one daughter, Cindy Martin and husband Charles of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Jason Falkner of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jenesa Vaughan of Elk City, Melissa Wray of Elk City, Todd Vickrey of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Heath Vickrey of Fort Worth; one brother, Bob Falkner and wife Lynda of Ozona, Texas; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
