COMANCHE — Graveside services for Eldon Burks, 82, of Iowa Park will be at noon Wednesday, Aug. 22, in Union Cemetery in Comanche County with Dr. Sandy Sandlin officiating. Comanche Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at his home.
He was born July 3, 1925, in Comanche County to Gus and Gold (Bean) Burks. He was married to Joan Schubert on Jan. 24, 1948, in Blanket. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, where he served as a deacon. He was employed by Oil Transport in Abilene until his retirement in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Burks of Iowa Park; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kim Burks of Cameron, Jerry and Sharon Burks of Austin and Scott and Kelli Burks of Arlington; two daughters, Vickie and son in-in-law Redge Stewart of Krum, and Pam Burks of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Harley Burks of Rogers, Ark.; and a sisters, DeAlva Brock of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Burks, and his parents.
