I read the first chapter of Luke the other day and was so inspired by all the miracles. So I wrote down my thoughts. Hope you enjoy my “ramblings.”

There are so many amazing stories in the Bible. Several are found in the first chapter of Luke.

The priest Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth were an elderly Jewish couple who were righteous and blameless before God. We know they had prayed to have children, but had none.

Zacharias had duties at the temple which he had probably performed for years and years. His job was to light and burn incense, etc. (Also, I can see him cleaning the window sills of dust and cobwebs, then lighting candles in the windows).

One day, as he went about his mundane tasks, an angel appeared to him.

V13 – The angel said to him “Fear not, Zacharias, for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John (the Baptist).”

V20 – says the angle told Zacharias he would be dumb, unable to speak until the baby was born, because he had not believed the impossible.

V57 – and forward tells of the joy at John’s birth.

If you have been praying about a matter for a long season, don’t give up. One day, as you are dusting, lighting candles, or driving along the road, God may show up with your answer.
