To the editor:
On behalf of the Friends of the Vietnam War Museum, (www.NationalVNWarMuseum.org) I want to thank Charles Cooper, store director of the Brookshire’s located on Austin Ave., for making arrangements with the store’s regional office to donate food and drink supplies needed for an eight-hour race. The race was held on Sept. 22 in the Clark Botanical Gardens near Mineral Wells. The race proceeds went toward the building of a Vietnam War Museum in Mineral Wells.
At the award ceremony, held immediately after the race, a $1,000 check was presented toward the cause to Jim Messinger, president of the Friends for the National Vietnam War Museum. Additional thanks go to Kevin and Anna Lovell, owners of Moore Printing, for providing a race banner and race T-shirts at a discounted price which complemented the Brookshire’s contribution toward cutting expenses. A check of this amount would have been impossible without the help of these two Brownwood businesses.
