To the editor:
The Christian Women’s Job Corps first Super Bunko Tournament achieved its two main purposes: 1. To provide an entertaining evening for women; and 2. To raise awareness of our educational program to improve the lives of women, so they can, in turn, help and improve the lives of their children — our next generation.
We want to publicly thank our sponsors, whose monetary and/or contributions-in-kind supported our bunko tournament: Dr Pepper, Chick-fil-A, Prima Pasta, Underwood’s, Hallum Florists, Davis Floral, Brookshire’s, Kroger, King Food Market, Texas Furniture, Southwest Appliance, Dunlaps, Maurice’s, Corral West, Hastings, Sliger’s, Wilson Cleaners, Nathan’s, Citizens National Bank, TexasBank, J.C. Penney, Bealls, Donna at the Rage, Brenda Simpson Designs, Marcie at the Rage, Woodman’s Cabinets, Hamilton’s, Merle Norman, Rhinestone Ranch, 4 Corners, Lemon’s Bar-B-Q, Flowers by Phyllis, Forget-Me-Not, The Glamour Shop, Teachable Moments, 30 Days Fashion, Main Street Car Wash, Brownwood Regional Fitness Center. Thank you for your generosity.
Also, thank you to the ministry team for providing a fantastic “popcorn buffet” to our fast moving bunko ladies; the CWJC alumni for participating as greeters and hosts during the event; to the board of directors for their time energy and monetary contributions, especially Patricia “Trish” Boland, Chairman, who “MC’d” the event and humorously kept the program focuses.
The Brownwood Bulletin, KHUB HPU radio, Wendlee Broadcasting and KBWD/KOXE radio all contributed to the success of our event by their coverage. Thank you for supporting CWJC’s purpose. To all the local businesses who put up our posters and flyers, we thank you.
A big thank you to Troy Evans, Ryan Myers and Doug Chandler for their muscle power to transport tables and chairs from and back to Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.
Finally, we would like to thank all the women bunko players of Brown County for supporting us by playing this fun-loving, fast-paced parlor game. You are our patrons. As ladies of the south enjoyed bunko generations before us, we all enjoyed our wonderful event.
