The Brownwood Lady Lions placed sixth out of 10 teams during the girls portion of the Bluebonnet Invitational Monday at the Brownwood Country Club.

The Lady Lions finished with a team score of 439, which left them behind tournament champion Abilene Wylie (352), runner-up Sonora (385), Snyder (386), Wall (404) and Brady (437). The rest of the field included seventh-place Big Spring (446) followed by Wylie No. 2 (449), Sonora No. 2 (461) and Coleman (624).

Leading the way for Brownwood was Mallory Garcia with a 93 followed by Maddi Murray with a 114, Britlynn Bitters with a 115, Destini Recasner with a 117 and Aleska Ramirez with a 124.

Competing as medalists were Lady Lions Sarah Griffin (141) and Tyra Cotton (148), Bangs’ Allison Jenkins (158) and Early Lady Horns Lauren Piper (102), Averey Holden (136) and Andrea Contreras (151).

The low round of the day belonged Wylie’s Maddi Olson (80) trailed by Big Spring’s Abbey Bryan (85) and Wylie’s Arin Zachary (86), who aced the 17th hole.

The Bluebonnet Invitational for the boys will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the Brownwood Country Club with a 9 a.m. start time.
