Brownwood slips to 10-2 after 1-0 loss

LIBERTY HILL — In a game that featured only one hit, and only one run, the Brownwood Lady Lions’ seven-game win streak came to a halt with a 1-0 loss at Liberty Hill Tuesday night.

The loss was just the second in 12 games for the Lady Lions, as Liberty Hill’s Amber Wiggins tossed a perfect game. Brownwood struck out 11 times and no Lady Lion reached base.

Brownwood’s Chyanne Ellett tossed a gem as well, striking out 16 while allowing just one hit and four walks.

Liberty Hill (11-1) scratched across the game’s only run in its final at-bat.

Consecutive two-out walks by Ashley Gatlin and Abby Covington put two runners on, and a wild pitch moved both into scoring position. Ashlyn Revere then laid down a bunt, and the Lady Lions committed the only error of the game to allow Liberty Hill to snatch the victory.

The Lady Lions (10-2) will play their first home game at 7 p.m. Friday against Anson.
