EDMOND, Okla. — Brownwood High School graduate and Central Oklahoma University freshman Sydney Roberts shot a 4-under par 31 on the back nine at KickingBird Golf Club Tuesday to capture the individual title at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational, where the Bronchos also finished first as a team.
Roberts carded a 2-under par 68 in her final round to earn medalist honors by one stroke, while Central Oklahoma tallied a 291 second-round team score to finish with a 605 composite, three shots better than runner-up Southwestern Oklahoma.
UCO has won two tournaments this season, the first being the Central Region Preview in September. Roberts, a three-time state qualifier at Brownwood with a pair of Top 5 finishes, earned her first collegiate victory.
Roberts sat in fifth place after the first round, carding an opening 76 Monday. An eagle on the par 5 12th hole Tuesday ignited Roberts' charge, as she added two more birdies to vault to the top of the leaderboard.
