USCOLA — The Early Longhorns dropped their Jim Ned baseball tournament opener to Clyde, 12-2, Thursday morning.

Early (5-5) gave up the first 10 runs before scoring both its runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Longhorns trailed 5-0 after one frame, 9-0 after two and 10-0 prior to their third trip to the plate. Clyde tacked on two more runs in the fifth to enforce the run rule.

The Longhorns managed just two hits — singles by Christian Alcorta and Tristan Horton — and committed six errors.

Horton pitched an inning an allowed five unearned runs on one hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Miguel Elizondo worked 3.2 innings and gave up seven runs — four earned — on eight hits with one strikeout and two walks.

The Longhorns will face Levelland at 2:45 p.m. today, Coleman at 5 p.m. today and Jim Ned at 4:45 p.m. Saturday in tournament action.
