In their final outing prior to hosting Bangs Tuesday night in the District 6-3A baseball opener, the Early Longhorns chalked up a 9-1 road victory over Albany Thursday afternoon.
The Longhorns scored all the runs they would need in the top of the first inning, collecting three. Early tacked on single runs in the third and fifth innings and four more in the sixth.
The only run for Albany scored in the bottom of the third inning.
Christian Alcorta and C.J. Hanley teamed up to toss a three-hitter for the Longhorns. Alcorta worked three innings and gave up a run on two hits with eight strikeouts and one walk. Hanley pitched four innings and surrendered just one hit with seven strikeouts and a walk.
At the plate, the Longhorns collected six hits and drew 12 walks. Chase Keilers and Jonathan Morales both notched one hit with a couple of RBIs; Alcorta singled and drove in a run; Ryan Hill tallied two RBIs without a hit and Devyn Burns drove in one without a hit; Tristan Horton walked four times, doubled and scored twice; Kyler Mercer tripled and scored; and Hanley added a single.
Early (8-6), which has won three straight contests, welcomes Bangs (2-9) at 7 p.m. Tuesday
