Early hosts District 6-3A meet Tuesday and Wednesday
SAN SABA — In their final action prior to hosting the District 6-3A track and field meet, the Early Lady Horns captured the team championship at the San Saba Relays on Thursday.
The Lady Horns produced 186.5 points, outdistancing runner-up San Saba (149) as well as Goldthwaite (77), Mason (76.5), Cross Plains (48), Richland Springs (38), Cherokee (23), Harper (14), Brady, Coleman and Hamilton (0 points each).
Early earned 18 medals — six gold, six silver and six bronze.
Event winners included Trinity Tomlinson in both the 110-meter hurdles (15.2) and high jump (5-4), Jensen Hutchins in the 100 meters (12.79), Tuesdi Tidwell in the pole vault (11-6), the 4x100 relay team of Tidwell, Hutchins, Patricia Blanton and Haley Spieckerman (51.49) and the 4x200 relay team of Tidwell, Parker Smith, Hutchins and Tomlinson (1:49.72).
Finishing second were Tidwell in both the triple jump (34-2) and long jump (16-1), Blanton in the 200 meters (28.43), Tomlinson in the 300-meter hurdles (48.66), Lauren Jesko in the shot put (32.7) and Lainey Speck in the 110-meter hurdles (16.98).
Coming in third were Speck in the 300-meter hurdles (50.11), Blanton in the 100 meters (13.42), Spieckerman in the long jump (15-10.5), Smith in the 200 meters (28.48), Rylie Philpot in the 800 meters (2:42.93) and the 4x400 relay team of Kenzie Poindexter, Speck, Philpot and Kady Knox (4:26.56).
Placing fourth were Ellie Ryan in both the discus (85-10) and shot put (31-4), Hope Boswell in the 400 meters (1:06.99) and Emily Jillson in the triple jump (33-6.75).
Spieckerman added a sixth-place tie in the 100 meters (13.62).
The District 6-3A meet will take place Tuesday and Wednesday at Longhorn Stadium in Early.
