Early remains atop 6-3A softball standings with 7-0 league mark

EARLY — The Early Lady Horns collected their 20th victory of the season and remained undefeated in District 6-3A softball action with an 11-0 home victory over Brady Monday afternoon.

Early (20-6, 7-0) tallied three runs in the first inning, four in the second and four more in the fourth inning.

The Lady Horns wasted no time taking the lead as Parker Smith led off with a home run in the bottom of the first inning. Sydnee Shea then walked and Deleon singled ahead of an RBI sacrifice fly from Laiken Reagan that produced the second run. An RBI ground out by Ashlyn Kirby extended the lead to 3-0.

In the second inning, Emma Loven doubled while Vance-Cady Gordon and Gabby Constancia walked to load the bases. Smith unloaded the sacks with a three-RBI triple, giving her four RBIs through two innings and the Lady Horns a 6-0 edge. Shea later reached on an error that allowed Smith to tally the seventh run.

After a quiet third inning, the Lady Horns went to back to work in the fourth. Smith led off with a bunt single and scored on an RBI base hit by Shea. Deleon followed with an RBI triple that scored Shea, but was thrown out at the plate in a quest for an inside-the-park home run. Reagan then singled and later scored on a base hit by Kirby, while Loven's RBI single plated Kirby with the final run.

The Lady Horns visit Coleman at 4 p.m. Thursday.
