DUBLIN — Delayed two days due to wet field conditions in Dublin, the Early Lady Horns finally wrapped up the District 6-3A softball championship outright with a 11-0 victory over the host Lady Lions Thursday.
Early (22-6, 9-0) can complete a perfect run through district competition as it hosts Comanche (19-7, 7-2) in the final game of the regular season at 5 p.m. Friday.
In Thursday’s win over Dublin (2-22, 0-9), Early tallied four runs in the first inning, three in the second and four more in the fourth.
The Lady Horns’ first inning featured singles by Parker Smith and Laiken Reagan, a triple by Sydnee Shea and a three-base error during Makayla Deleon’s at-bat.
In the second, Gabby Constancia, Smith and Deleon singled, Shea came through with a two-RBI triple and Reagan chipped in an RBI.
The fourth inning for Early featured by a double by Reagan, an Ashlyn Kirby walk, a two-RBI double by Jenna Whitehead and an RBI bunt single from Constancia.
