Games 2 and 3, if needed, today at noon in Anson
ANSON — The District 6-3A third seed Bangs Lady Dragons have their backs against the wall following a 6-1 loss to District 5-3A runner-up Colorado City in Game 1 of a Region I-3A softball bi-district playoff series Friday night.
Games 2 and 3, if needed, will begin at noon today in Anson.
The Lady Dragons (20-8) yielded six runs to Colorado City (22-10) in the top of the second inning and mustered their lone run in the bottom of the seventh.
Bangs was limited to one hit by Colorado City pitcher Tamren Price, who struck out 10.
Erin Anderson belted a solo home run off Price in the seventh to account for the Lady Dragons’ only hit and run.
In the circle, Anderson was tagged with the loss, yielding six runs — one earned — on six hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Defensively, the Lady Dragons were credited with seven errors in the field.
The Colorado City second inning saw Makaylah Rivera single to start the frame and score on an RBI single by Marissa Reyna. With one out, an RBI infield single by Alexa Garza scored Garcia, who reached on an error, while Reyna came home on the same play due to another miscue.
With the score 3-0, Kaci Phariss reached when a fly ball turned into another Bangs error, scoring the fourth run. Chloe Castillo then followed with a ground ball that was booted, allowing the final two Colorado City runs to score.
