Brownwood, Early to host two events apiece

Texas Teen-Age Baseball district tournament action returns Monday with three events taking place within Brown County. At stake are a combined seven berths into three four tournaments, all of which begin Monday, July 24.

Brownwood's Massey Sports Complex is hosting a pair of tournaments — District 3 8U Machine Pitch and District 10U Tight Base.

The 8U field consists of the Brownwood Pirates, Brownwood Braves, Brownwood Nationals, Brownwood Cardinals, Bangs Legends, Early Aggies, Early Rangers and Coleman Bluecats. The first- and second-place teams will qualify for state, which will be held in Buffalo.

Comprising the 10U field are the Brownwood Tigers, Brownwood Royals, Brownwood Yankees, Brownwood Pirates, Bangs Green Sox and Coleman Moose. Only the tournament champion will continue its season, advancing to state at Copperas Cove.

Early City Park will also be the site of two tournaments — District 4 14U and District 5 12U Open Base.

In the 14U tournament, the first- and second-place squads will punch a ticket to state in Groesbeck. Vying for state berths will be the Early Orange, Brownwood Cubs, Brownwood Diamondbacks, Bangs Royals, Comanche Warriors, Goldthwaite Eagles, Brady Bulldogs and Cross Plains Buffaloes.

In the 12U event, the Early Huskers, Early Jayhawks, Santa Anna Mountaineers, Coleman Bluecats, Winters Rangers and Miles Dirty Dawgs are competing for the top two positions. The first- and second-place teams will make the short drive to the Massey Sports Complex in Brownwood the week of July 24 for the 12U Open Base State Tournament. The Brownwood Angels and Brownwood Pirates will serve as hosts for the 13-team event.
