SAN ANGELO — For the second time this season, the Brownwood Lady Lions were dealt a straight-set defeat by Class 6A San Angelo Central.
In Tuesday's rematch of the season opener for both teams, the Lady Lions again fell in three sets, 25-8, 25-8, 25-12, to cap a run of 10 consecutive matches against Class 5A and 6A competition, most of which took place at the Classic of Granbury over the weekend.
Torrey Miller, coming off an all-tournament team performance in Granbury over the weekend, led the Lady Lions with five kills trailed by Cheyenne Stroope with three and Mikaela Smith with two.
Hadley Monroe dished out five assists with four coming from Davalynn Monroe, while Miller served Brownwood's lone ace.
On the defensive end, Miller and Annie Gillispie posted a team-high eight digs apiece followed by Hadley Monroe with six, Davalynn Monroe with four and Smith, Stroope, Madi Gosch and Aleyia Cotton with one apiece.
At the net, Smith and Cotton recorded one block each.
The Lady Lions (6-12) are off until Tuesday when they take on Abilene High in an attempt to halt a seven-game slump.
