After starting the season with five consecutive victories, the Brownwood High tennis team suffered its third straight setback Thursday, falling to perennial Class 4A state powerhouse Fredericksburg, 15-4.

Three of Brownwood’s wins came on the girls side, including a pair in singles action. No. 2 Piper Barberie knocked off Caitlyn Halford (6-1, 6-2) while No. 5 Jordan Stavley downed Amy Dittmar (6-4, 6-2). Meanwhile, the Lady Lions No. 2 doubles team of Cameron Hall and Mckinzie Adkins defeated Jaci Spies and Dittmar (6-3, 5-7, 10-5).

For the Lions, No. 6 singles player, Jimmy Kniss upended Alex Montoya (4-6, 6-4, 10-7).

The Lions and Lady Lions (5-3) will attempt to bounce back at 9 a.m. Saturday as they host San Angelo Lake View, then travel to Early for a 1 p.m. match.
