Class 4A boys golf state champion Jaryn Pruitt continued his stellar play over the summer as he was named West Texas Junior Champions Tour Player of the Year with a scoring average of 71.9.

On March 3-4, in the midst of the high school season, Pruitt fired a 1-under par total of 143 at the Hideout to capture the 36-hole Spring Showdown.

Pruitt added first-place finishes at Brady on July 3 with a 4-under round of 67; at the Hill Country Junior Open on July 13-14 with a two-day total of 7-over par 149; and at Shady Oaks in Baird on July 17 with a 2-under par 68.

Pruitt was also the runner-up at San Saba on July 20 with a round of 3-over par 75, along with the WTJCT Tour Championship at the Brownwood Country Club with a two-day score of 4-under par 140 — missing a three-peat by two strokes.

On July 19, Pruitt came in fourth at Hancock Park in Lampasas with a 3-over par 75 and on July 6 he finished sixth at the Brownwood Country Club with a 2-over par 74.

As a sophomore at Brownwood High School, Pruitt won the 4A boys state championship on May 23 in Marble Falls, completing a two-day tally of 3-under par 141 for a five-stroke victory.
