The Brownwood High tennis team returned to the win column Saturday, halting a four-match drought with a 13-6 victory over Killeen Ellison.

The Lions won five of six singles matches to pace the Brownwood effort.

Picking up boys singles wins were No. 1 Jeremy Roberson (6-1, 6-1 over Jacob), No. 2 Gabe Hinojosa (6-4, 6-1 over Akeem), No. 4 James Bautista (6-1, 6-4 over Julien), No. 5 Jimmy Kniss (6-3, 6-0 over Josiah) and No. 6 Mo Goff (6-3, 6-1 over Maurice).

The Lions doubles teams of No. 1 Hinojosa and Michael Gomez (6-0, 6-4 over Cherizard and Hawthorne) and No. 3 Kniss and Pablo Solis (6-1, 6-0 over Babaran and Allen) also chalked up wins.

For the Lady Lions, singles victories belonged to No. 1 Piper Barberie (6-2, 6-2 over Nataua) and No. 3 Jordan Stavley (6-1, 6-1 over Tashonna).

The No. 2 team of Cameron Hall and Mckinzie Adkins (6-4, 6-3 over Keyser and Oroha) and the No. 3 team of Stavley and Samantha Ethridge (6-2, 6-3 over Rocha and House) also were victorious.

Brownwood claimed the mixed doubles match as well, with the win going to Roberson and Barberie (6-0, 6-3 over Dean and Goodman).

The next action for Brownwood (6-4) is Saturday, Sept. 9 at Killeen High.
