ALEXANDRIA, La. — The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets golf teams both finished third at the Louisiana College Invitational, their first outing of the semester, which concluded Wednesday.

Playing at Links on the Bayou Golf Course, the Yellow Jackets fired with a 618 composite score following rounds of 316 and 302. The Howard Payne men trailed only LeTourneau (598) and Centenary (613).

The Lady Jackets posted a 36-hole team total of 764 with rounds of 395 and 369. HPU’s women also finished behind LeTourneau (665) and Centenary (699).

Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets was Andrew Errico with a second-place 148, following rounds of 73 and 75, which was three shots behind tournament champion Mason Terry of LeTourneau (145). Kyle Anderson (82-73=155) finished tied for 15th place followed by Tyler James (79-78=157) in 17th place, Reed Shelley (82-77=159) in 18th place and Ty Wright (84-77=161) in a 22nd place tie.

For the Lady Jackets, Morgan Thompson came in seventh with a 171, following rounds of 87 and 84, trailed by Klaye Georges (99-84=183) in ninth place, Cali Brockway (105-100=205) in 12th place, Jordan Jeffrey (106-101=207) in 13th place, and Holly Gaskamp (104-108=212) in 14th place.
