Ellen Tischler, 96 of Brownwood and formerly of Goldthwaite passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 in Brownwood. She was born March 19, 1921 in Goldthwaite to Harry “Bear” Allen and Edna Lowrie Allen. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church. Ellen loved the Lord and was a dedicated Sunday school teacher and choir member.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was known for her funny quips. She was a delight to be around and an inspiration to her family and friends.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Tischler; son, Rodger Kennedy; daughter, Jo Ann Newsom; and grandson, Mark Rhodes.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Rains of Brownwood; grandchildren, Becki Cress and husband Brad of Mesa, Arizona, Carla Pope and fiancé Jason Cardwell of Lubbock, Kim Stieber and husband Joe of Early, Scott Rains and fiancée Brittany Carter of St. Paul, Minnesota, Kelly Congdon and husband Jay of Brownwood. Great-grandchildren include Amber Corson, Paige, Meghan, Collin and Gabriel Cress, Kilei, Nikki, and Keana Pope, Tristan Bell, Alice Congdon and Megan and Jaiden Rhodes. Great-great grandchildren include Jude Marie and David Corson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24 at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite.
A Celebration of Life for Ellen Tischler will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25 at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery.
