LONGVIEW — The Howard Payne Lady Jackets posted a 2-1 record over the weekend at the first American Southwest Conference Volleyball Crossover, rebounding from an opening loss to win their final two matches.

Howard Payne’s first victory of the weekend came Friday in a 25-12, 25-17, 25-21 triumph over Louisiana College.

Zhartezia Bradley led the attack with 10 kills followed by McKenna Walker and Jordan Rogers with six apiece, Macy Maniscalo with five, Kailey Doering with four, Cheyanne Lovelady with three, Sarah Bapelia with two and Ariana Rehm and Kylie Metcalf with one kill apiece.

Lovelady recorded 33 assists while Bradley, Walker and Ashley Moore each contributed one.

Moore and Walker also finished with two aces apiece.

On the defensive end, Jordan Livingston notched 14 digs trailed by Moore with nine, Bradley with eight, Walker with seven, Jazmine Bridges with six, Lovelady with five and Maniscalo, Doering and Metcalf with one apiece.

Bradley and Rogers tallied four blocks apiece, Lovelady and Bapeli added two each and Walker and Doering were each credited with one.

For Louisiana College, (0-11, 0-6), Jaslyn Bright notched seven kills, Paris Babino tallied 19 assists and two aces, and Olivia Huval picked up 15 digs.

On Saturday, the Lady Jackets swept weekend host LeTourneau, 25-12, 27-25, 25-14.

Bradley collected 12 kills to pace the offensive effort trailed by eight from Maniscalo, five each from Rogers and Doering, four from Walker and three from Lovelady.

Lovelady recorded 31 assists while Walker chipped in three and Moore and Livingston both finished with one.

Lovelady also served a team-best four aces trailed by two apiece from Walker and Livingston and one each from Moore and Bridges.

Defensively, Livingston led the way with 11 digs followed by Bridges with 10, Lovelady with eight, Walker with seven, Moore with five, Bradley with four, Doering with two and Rogers with one.

Rogers also tallied three blocks, Lovelady notched two and Maniscalo was credited with one.

LeTourneau (4-11, 0-5) received 10 kills from Savanna Stutts, 20 assists from Korissa White, and eight digs from Audrey Galindo.

The Lady Jackets let a victory slip away in Friday’s opener as ASC East leader UT-Tyler rallied for a 25-17, 20-25, 25-27, 25-18, 15-7 victory.

Bradley and Rogers spearheaded the Howard Payne attack with 21 and 20 kills, respectively, trailed by seven from Doering, three each from Maniscalo and Lovelady, two from Walker and one from Livingston.

Lovelady dished out 49 assists while Moore added three and Livingston chipped in a pair.

Bridges, Moore, Bradley and Lovelady each served one ace.

Defensively, Livingston’s 26 digs were a team-high followed by Lovelady with 12, Walker with 11, Bridges with eight, Moore with five, Bradley, Rogers and Maniscalo with four apiece and Doering with three.

Bradley finished with six blocks, Doering added three, Rogers and Maniscalo contributed two apiece and Lovelady and Walker were both credited with one.

For UT-Tyler (13-2, 6-1), Brieanne Brown collected 21 kills, Reighanna Guzman distributed 28 assists, Blair Dressendorger served four aces, Makenna Bartlett tallied 19 digs and Loren Guerra was credited with seven blocks.

The Lady Jackets (5-10, 3-3) will be back in action at 6 p.m. Friday at Hardin-Simmons and noon Saturday at McMurry.
