BIG SPRING — The Brownwood Lady Lions' slump reached three games Friday night as they dropped their District 5-4A volleyball opener to the Big Spring Lady Steers.
The Lady Lions, runners-up in 5-4A last season, were dealt a 25-17, 25-21, 15-25, 26-24 setback to fall to 10-16 overall and 0-1 in league action.
Torrey Miller paced Brownwood with 15 kills followed by Mikaela Smith with nine, Aleyia Cotton with eight, Cheyenne Stroope with four and Ashlynn Patteson with one.
Davalynn Monroe dished out 13 assists, Hadley Monroe distributed nine and Tyra Cotton added one.
Patteson finished with four service aces while Aleyia Cotton recorded two and Stroope, Miller, Smith and Hadley Monroe chipped in one apiece.
Defensively, Patteson tallied seven digs followed by Davalynn Monroe with six, Miller and Aleyia Cotton with five apiece, Smith and Annie Gillispie with four each, Stroope and Hadley Monroe with two apiece and Tyra Cotton with one.
At the net, Miller notched Brownwood's lone block.
The Lady Lions will travel to Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday seeking their first district victory.
