SNYDER — The Brownwood Lady Lions dropped their second District 5-4A volleyball contest in three outings Tuesday night, suffering a four-set loss at Snyder.
The Lady Lions, who were coming off their first district bye this past Friday, were without head coach Julie Kennedy in their 21-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 defeat as assistant Leslie Anaya led the squad.
Brownwood (11-17, 1-2) received 21 kills from Torrey Miller, 11 from Mikaela Smith, 10 from Cheyenne Stroope, four from Ashlynn Patteson and one each from Tyra Cotton and Hadley Monroe.
Hadley Monroe also dished out 21 assists followed by 19 from Davalynn Monroe and two from Tyra Cotton.
Miller served Brownwood's lone ace.
Defensively, Hadley Monroe collected 17 digs trailed by Patteson with 16, Miller with 13, Davalynn Monroe with eight, Stroope with six, Annie Gillispie with four, and Smith, Lakyn Ratliff, Catilyn Murphy and McKenzie Welker with one apiece.
Miller notched eight blocks, Stroope added three, Smith finished with two and Patteson tallied one.
The Lady Lions will attempt to rebound as they visit defending 5-4A champion and district front-runner Abilene Wylie at 6 p.m. Friday. The second half of district begins Oct. 10 with all four of Brownwood's matches at Warren Gym.
