The Howard Payne Lady Jackets concluded the American Southwest Conference portion of their volleyball schedule with a straight-set home loss to the Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls Saturday.
The Lady Jackets were dealt a 25-13, 25-22, 25-19 defeat and will not be making a return appearance in the ASC tournament this season.
Howard Payne (8-17, 6-10), which suffered its third loss in a row, received nine kills from Zhartezia Bradley followed by five from Kailey Doering, four from Cheyanne Lovelady, three each by Jordan Rogers and Kylie Metcalf, two apiece from Macy Maniscalo and Sarah Bapeli and one from Ariana Rehm.
Lovelady distributed 24 assists with two each coming from McKenna Walker and Jordan Livingston and one by Bradley.
At the service line, Livingston, Bradley and Jazmine Bridges each tallied an ace.
On the defensive end, Livingston collected 13 digs trailed by 10 from Walker, seven from Ashley Moore, five from Lovelady, four each from Bradley and Bridges and one apiece by Rogers, Maniscalo and Bapeli.
Rehm, Doering, Bapeli, Rogers, Bradley and Lovelady each finished with one block.
For Hardin-Simmons (12-15, 9-7), Morgan Prince delivered 11 kills, Ashley Pierce served two aces and tallied 31 assists, Mary Johnson finished with 15 digs and Grace Schultz and Sarah Bennett each recorded three blocks.
The Lady Jackets are scheduled to visit St. Mary’s at 6 p.m. Tuesday, then close the season at the Colorado College tournament Friday and Saturday. HPU will face Cornell and Johnson &Wales Friday, and take on host Colorado College Saturday.
