Brownwood to face Vernon in bi-district round at 5 p.m. Monday in Breckenridge
PEASTER — In their final outing prior to Monday’s bi-district playoff match against Vernon, the Brownwood Lady Lions suffered a straight-set defeat at the hands of Class 3A No. 11 Peaster Friday afternoon in playoff warm-up action.
Brownwood was dealt a 25-16, 25-6, 25-13 setback as the Lady Lions mustered just 13 kills — five by Torrey Miller, three by Mikaela Smith, two each by Cheyenne Stroope and Ashlynn Patteson and one by Kaitlyn Windham.
Hadley Monroe dished out six assists, Davalynn Monroe chipped in four and Miller and Annie Gillispie added one apiece.
Davalynn Monroe also served a pair of aces while Miller and Smith contributed one apiece.
Defensively, Miller tallied eight digs followed by seven from Davalynn Monroe, five each by Patteson and Caitlyn Moody, four by Hadley Monroe, two by Gillispie and one by Tyra Cotton.
At the net, Miller recorded two blocks while Smith notched one.
The District 5-4A runner-up Lady Lions (14-20) will tangle with District 6-4A third seed Vernon at 5 p.m. Monday at Breckenridge.
