Miller repeats as 5-4A Offensive Player of the Year

Six members of the District 5-4A runner-up Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball team earned all-district recognition by the coaches of the league.

Leading the charge for the Lady Lions is junior Torrey Miller, the 5-4A Offensive Player of the Year. Miller was named the district's Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

First-team selections for Brownwood included seniors Mikaela Smith and Cheyenne Stroope along with junior Davalynn Monroe. Sophomores Ashlynn Patteson and Hadley Monroe were second-team choices.

Abilene Wylie senior Bailey Ann Toliver was chosen as the MVP, Big Spring senior Jori Hanland and Wylie sophomore Pierson Sanders shared the Defensive Player of the Year accolade, Wylie senior Jordan Benson was tabbed Setter of the Year, and Snyder junior A'Nia Ware received Newcomer of the Year honors.

The remainder of the first-team choices included Wylie's Keetyn Davis, Kylie Kirk and Gracie McCaslin, Big Spring's Kayleigh Penny, Logan Terrazas and Trinity Galloway, Sweetwater's Charity Thompson and Jessica Poe, and Snyder's Natalee James.

Rounding out the second team were Sweetwater's Hannah Mobley, Rashavia Green, Sonora Medellin and Elli Lehnert, Snyder's Kerrington Biggers, Jessica Carroll and Kalli Gamble, Wylie's Bre Parks and Anna Collumns, and Big Spring's Khloee Gang,

The Lady Lions posted a 15-21 overall record, 4-4 in district, and won their second straight bi-district championship under the direction of head coach Julie Kennedy.
