CLYDE — The Early Longhorns dropped their basketball season opener at Clyde Monday night, falling to the host Bulldogs, 54-28.

Early (0-1) led 10-8 after one quarter, trailed 25-19 at halftime and fell behind 39-23 after three periods.

Ty Schafer and Rowdy Elkins scored a team-high eight points to pace Early followed by Devyn Burns with seven, Timmy Smithson and John Griffin with two points apiece and Taylor Hurt with one.

The Longhorns will host Brownwood (1-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
