MARBLE FALLS — In a rematch of their one-point, 45-44 victory at the Lorena tournament last week, the No. 6 Brownwood Lady Lions were unable to duplicate that feat as Class 5A Marble Falls chalked up a 53-45 home victory Tuesday night.

The loss was the second in a row for the Lady Lions (13-2), both to 5A schools, after opening the season with 13 consecutive victories — the best start in program history.

Tuesday night, the Lady Lions were tied with Marble Falls at 13 after one quarter but fell behind 27-21 at halftime and were down 35-32 heading into the fourth period.

The Lady Lions shot just 31 percent (16 of 52) from the floor, but 38 percent (10 of 26) on three-point attempts. Brownwood also stepped to the free throw line just four times, making three, while committing 17 turnovers and collecting just seven steals.

Taytum Sutton scored 13 points to pace the Lady Lions followed by Sage Cupps with 12, Mallory Garcia with 10, Ryleigh Dalleh with five, Daisy Green with three and Mya Wallace with two points.

Brownwood is back in action at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Godley.
