Brownwood drops second game in a row, now 7-4 on season

HAMILTON – The Brownwood Lions dropped their second game in a row, and second contest to the Lampasas Badgers this season, 66-54, in the second round of the Hamilton tournament Friday.

Brownwood also fell to Lampasas, 62-45, in the Nov. 20 home opener.

In Friday's rematch, the Lions trailed 21-11 after one quarter but rallied to grab a 36-35 halftime lead. Lampasas regained control in the third period and carried a 56-46 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Zach Strong scored 16 points to pace the Lions' effort followed by 11 from Xavier Porter, seven from Sean Yoder, six from A.J. McCarty, four each from Isyah Campos and Gavon Clemons, and three points from Blake Bronniman.

Brownwood (7-4) is back in action at 10:30 a.m. Saturday against Eastland, which it defeated on Tuesday by a 66-45 count in a non-district road contest.
