Brownwood snaps two-game skid, improves to 14-2
GODLEY — The No. 6 Brownwood Lady Lions halted a two-game skid and returned to the win column Friday night, chalking up a 60-38 road victory over Godley.
The Lady Lions (14-2) had dropped their last two outings to Class 5A opponents Bryan Rudder and Marble Falls by a combined 13 points.
In Friday's contest, Brownwood converted 11 of 23 three-pointers (47 percent) and 23 of 56 field goals (41 percent) overall. The Lady Lions also pulled down 30 rebounds and recorded 14 steals.
“We fought hard and shot lights out on threes,” said Lady Lions head coach Heather Hohertz. “They really responded well from the two tough losses.”
Sage Cupps led the Brownwood offense with a 26-point effort followed by Ryleigh Dalleh with 12, Mallory Garcia with nine, Kenya Barnes with six, Mya Wallace with four, Hadley Monroe with two and Taytum Sutton with one point.
The Lady Lions are back in action at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at Clyde, then host Fredericksburg at 6 p.m. Friday.
