Brownwood moves to 15-2 with three straight home games before Christmas

CLYDE — The No. 6 Brownwood Lady Lions began their second win streak of the season Tuesday night with a 65-43 road victory over the Class 3A Clyde Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Lions (15-2) won their first 13 games of the season before dropping a pair of contests to 5A foes Bryan Rudder and Marble Falls. Brownwood got back in the win column Friday with a 60-38 triumph at Godley.

Brownwood led Clyde 14-11 after one quarter, 27-13 at halftime and 42-25 through three periods.

The Lady Lions knocked down 31 percent (22 of 72) of their field goal attempts, including 32 percent (11 of 34) of their three-pointers, while sinking 66 percent (10 of 15) of their free throws. Brownwood also pulled down 38 rebounds and recorded 15 steals, while turning over the ball 14 times.

Sage Cupps poured in 34 points to spark Brownwood trailed by 14 from Ryleigh Dalleh, six each from Daisy Green and Mallory Garcia, three from Kenya Barnes and two points from Taytum Sutton.

The Lady Lions play just their third home game, and first at Warren Gym since Nov. 21, as they welcome Fredericksburg at 6 p.m. Friday – the first of three straight home contests before the Christmas break.
