BANGS — The Bangs Lady Dragons yielded the game's first nine points, but rallied to knock off the Early Lady Horns, 42-26, Friday night in the District 6-3A basketball opener for both teams.

Bangs pulled even at 15 at halftime and then ran away with the contest in the second half.

Kayleah Hall led the Lady Dragons with 13 points trailed by 10 from Taylor Malett and nine from Kyra Smith.

For Early, Ellie Ryan led the way with eight points and MaKayla DeLeon added four.

Bangs (1-0 in district) will visit Comanche at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday while Early (0-1 in district) hosts Brady at the same time.

 

Longhorns 66, Ira 44

 

WINTERS — The Early Longhorns returned to the win column Friday night with a 66-44 non-district neutral site win over Class 2A Ira.

Ty Schafer led the Longhorns (7-14) with 17 points followed by Taylor Hurt with 13, Rowdy Elkins with nine, Brent Grooms with seven, Devyn Burns with three and Josh Baucom and Darshan Bhatka with two points apiece.

The Longhorns are back in action at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Harper.
