GEORGETOWN — Playing for the first time since Jan. 6, the Brownwood Lady Lions soccer team earned its fourth victory in five outings under new head coach Brent Hardwick, knocking off Fredericksburg, 2-0, Thursday in the opening round of the Georgetown tournament.

Brownwood (4-1) received goals from Maddy Garza and Taylar Kinzler, while assists belonged to Khloe Tobien and Madison Cheeser. In goal, Channing Barron collected the shutout with one save.

The Lady Lions will square off with El Paso High at noon Friday and Giddings at noon Saturday in their final two Georgetown tournament contests.

Brownwood was slated to visit San Angelo Lake View this past Tuesday, but that game was cancelled due to the weather and will not be made up.

The Lady Lions posted a 3-1 record at the Kennedale tournament the weekend of Jan. 4-6, earning victories over Wichita Falls Hirschi (5-0), Paris (4-0) and Bryan Rudder (3-0), with a loss against host Kennedale (1-0).
