May sweeps Baird, Dragons edge Coleman
EARLY — The Early Lady Horns closed the first half of District 6-3A girls basketball action with a 54-32 home loss Friday night at the hands of the league front-running Comanche Maidens.
Early (12-16, 2-3) trailed Comanche (5-0 in district) by a 13-6 count after one quarter, 25-16 at halftime and 48-22 through three periods.
The Lady Horns received 12 points from Ellie Ryan, 11 points and eight rebounds from Emily Jillson and four points and seven boards from Kacee Gober.
Early hosts Bangs Tuesday night.
Coleman 28, Lady Dragons 27
COLEMAN — The Bangs Lady Dragons slipped into a tie for second place with Coleman after the Bluekatts tallied a slim 28-27 home victory Friday night in District 6-3A girls basketball action.
After shooting 26 of 30 at the free throw line in Tuesday's 49-41 win over Brady, Bangs (9-18, 3-2) converted just 4 of 15 free throws against Coleman (3-2 in district).
The game was tied at 8 after one quarter and Coleman took a 15-13 halftime lead.
Trenedi Deal scored nine points for the Lady Dragons followed by Kyra Smith with eight.
Bangs visits Early Tuesday night.
