The Brownwood Lady Lions evened their District 4-4A soccer record at 1-1 with a 2-1 victory over the Mineral Wells Lady Rams Tuesday night at Gordon Wood Stadium.

The Lady Lions (10-2, 1-1) received goals from Miranda Guerrero and Carly Person, while Madison Chesser and Maddy Garza were credited with assists.

In goal, Channing Barron tallied one save and yielded one goal.

“The girls played with a lot of resilience,” said Brownwood soccer head coach Brent Hardwick. “After going down 1-0 we were able to tie it before the half, and found a game winner in the second half.”

The Lady Lions visit defending state champion Stephenville at 5 p.m. Friday.

Mineral Wells 1, Brownwood 0

The Brownwood Lions dropped their second consecutive District 4-4A soccer outing Tuesday night at Gordon Wood Stadium, falling to Mineral Wells, 1-0, in a penalty kick shootout.

“The boys played a great game,” Hardwick said. “It was one of those games where we did everything but score. And when you let a game get into penalty kicks a lot of time the better team doesn’t always win. But we’re going to keep grinding and keep working hard.”

The Lions (4-8-1, 0-2) venture to Stephenville at 7 p.m. Friday to continue league action.
