GRAHAM — The No. 11 Brownwood Lady Lions posted a 2-2 overall record at the Graham tournament over the weekend, duplicating Thursday's split with another on Saturday.

In their final games prior to Tuesday's District 5-4A opener at Abilene Wylie, the Lady Lions fell to the host Graham Lady Blues, 8-3, then rebounded for a 3-2 extra-inning triumph over the Windthorst Trojanettes.

In the victory over Windthorst, the game was tied at 1 through seven innings and the Trojanettes grabbed the lead in the top of the eighth.

In Brownwood's half of the eighth, Lexie Castillo started on second base as per the international tiebreaker rule, and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Ashlynn Patteson. With two outs, Yisel Mendoza delivered a game-tying double to center field that scored Castillo. Landry Holden's single moved Karly Harper, running for Mendoza, to third, then Ryleigh Dalleh doubled home the winning run.

Windthorst grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning but Brownwood immediately answered in the bottom half. Annie Gillispie was hit by a pitch with one out, then Aubrie Harris reached on a bunt single that moved Gillispie to third base. Gillispie later scored on an RBI ground out by Chyanne Ellett.

The Lady Lions finished with eight hits — two each by Harris, Mendoza and Holden and one apiece by Dalleh and Ayanna Clemons.

Ellett pitched all eight innings, giving up one unearned run on six hits with 12 strikeouts and a pair of walks.

In the loss to Graham, the Lady Blues struck for four runs in the bottom of the first, two more in the second and tacked on single runs in the fourth and sixth. Brownwood mustered single runs in the first, third and fourth frames.

Ellett yielded eight runs — five earned — on 10 hits with six strikeouts.

Offensively, Ellett recorded three hits — including a home run — Dalleh notched two and Gillispie, Harris, Landry Holden, Mya McDowell and Auzzlyn Benedict added one each as the Lady Lions finished with 10 as a team.

The Lady Lions' run in the first was the result of Holden's RBI single to left field that plated Harris, who reached on a single to right.

In the third, Ellett homered to left field to reduce Graham's lead to 6-2.

Brownwood's final run in the fourth scored when Gillspie singled home Dalleh, who reached on a base hit to center field.

On Thursday, Brownwood opened the tournament by defeating Hawley, 3-0, and falling to Vernon, 5-4, in extra innings.

The Lady Lions (13-3-1) visit Wylie at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
