GLEN ROSE — The Blanket Lady Tigers finished first, and the Blanket Tigers placed second as a team in golf action at Glen Rose's Squaw Valley Golf Course earlier this week.

The defending Class A state champion Lady Tigers fired a composite round of 368, defeating the likes of Waco Midway (396), China Spring (398) and Lorena (425).

The Tigers posted a 357 total, finishing behind Goldthwaite (319) and ahead of Waco High (397) and host Glen Rose (398).

For the Lady Tigers, reigning Class A girls state champion Marki Kinkade finished first with a round of 81, while Emily Furry was fifth with a 92. Cassie Furry chipped in a 94 and Kenzie Tidwell finished with a 101. Shelby Smith and Amanda Menchaca also played and posted rounds of 118 and 126, respectively.

For the Tigers, Luke Kinkade's round of 74 was second only to the 64 of Goldthwaite's Drew Hermesmeyer. Trenten Varner tallied a 92 followed by Blake Hood with a 93, Mark Lopez with a 98 and Josh Schwab with a 99.

For the Goldthwaite boys, trailing Hermesmeyer were Brennan Medina with an 83, Slade Busby with an 85, Rance House with an 87 and Decklyn Oliver with a 95.
