The No. 3 UT-Tyler Lady Patriots ran their win streak to 14 games, routing the Howard Payne Lady Jackets, 20-0, Thursday in the first of three American Southwest Conference games this weekend.

UT-Tyler (21-1, 12-1) wasted little time imposing its will thanks to a 16-run top of the first inning. The Lady Patriots also tacked on four runs in the fifth.

Tia Campos and Kendra Evans combined to yield the 20 runs — 10 earned — on 20 hits with four walks and two strikeouts. The Lady Jackets (7-17, 4-12) committed one error in the field.

Lynsey Mitchell, Hannah Moore and Kailey Henderson all homered for UT-Tyler and combined for 10 RBIs. The Lady Patriots also tacked on six doubles.

For Howard Payne, Katelyn Dickerson and Morgean Schultz doubled, while Haley Slater singled. UT-Tyler pitchers Colleen Bentke, Emily Deramus and Sam Junkin surrendered one hit apiece with a combined four strikeouts and no walks.

Games 2 and 3 of the series will take place at Lady Jacket Park beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.
