The Brownwood Lady Lions will head into the final round of the District 5-4A girls golf tournament in fifth place, while Mallory Garcia slipped to sixth in the individual results after Monday's second-round at the Brownwood Country Club.

Following an opening 84, Garcia shot an 89 Monday for a 173 total. Garcia trails Abilene Wylie's Maddi Olsen (64-71=135), Big Spring's Abbey Bryan (69-77=146), Snyder's Cylie Velasquez (80-82=162), Sweetwater's Journee Pugh (78-85=163) and Snyder's AmyAnn Villanueva (86-85=171).

The first- and second-place teams and the top two competitors not on those teams will advance to the Region I-4A tournament April 25-26 at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock.

The Lady Lions shaved two strokes off their first round total, carding a 405 team score after a 407 opening round for an 812 composite.

Dalainy Garza followed her first-round 101 with a 104 Monday for a 205 total; Averey Holden answered her 105 with a 106 for a 211 composite; Britlynn Bitters fired consecutive rounds of 106 for a 212 tally; and Bryanna Galvan bounced back from a 112 with a 107 for a 219 score.

Brownwood trails Wylie (319-332=651), Snyder (339-346=685), Big Spring (353-364=717), and Sweetwater (348-378=726) heading into the final 18 holes Monday, April 9 at Sweetwater.
