SNYDER - With one round remaining in the 54-hole District 5-4A boys golf tournament, reigning Class 4A state champion Jaryn Pruitt of Brownwood owns an eight-shot advantage.
Following an opening round 69 at Fairway Oaks in Abilene, Pruitt answered with a 68 Wednesday at Sammy Baugh Golf Course in Snyder for a 137 composite score. The nearest competition to Pruitt is Snyder's Jake Leatherwood, with rounds of 72 and 73 (145 total).
Also competing for the Lions, John Murray has carded rounds of 86 and 84 for a 170, Caden Reagan has chipped in rounds of 89 and 87 for a 176, Ben Kallman has posted rounds of 92 and 94 for a 186, and Ian Harris has contributed consecutive 116s for a 232 tally.
The top two teams and top two individuals not on those teams will advance to the Region I-4A tournament at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock April 23-24. Snyder (324-313=637) is in first place in the team standings while four strokes separates second through fourth - Big Spring (335-330=665), Abilene Wylie (345-322=667) and Brownwood (336-333= 669).
The District 5-4A tournament will conclude Monday in Sweetwater.
