SAN ANGELO — The District 6-3A third seed Bangs Lady Dragons saw their softball season reach its conclusion Friday night with an 11-1, six-inning loss at the hands of the District 5-3A co-champion Coahoma Bulldogettes.

Bangs (12-11) spotted Coahoma (18-3) the first 10 runs of the game as the Bulldogettes scored six times in the top of the first and added two more runs in both the second and third innings.

The Lady Dragons pushed across their only run in the bottom of the third inning. With one out, Vanessa Perez doubled to center field, then Serenity Hyles followed with a bunt and the Bulldogettes made an error on the play, allowing Perez to come home.

Coahoma's MaKynlee Overton tossed a one-hitter, striking out seven and walking two batters. Perez and Sydney Horton drew the walks for Bangs.

During the Bulldogettes' six-run first inning, Jaydan Mann drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, Cassie Grant followed with an RBI single, and Kinzee Canales and Macee Grant both chipped in two-RBI singles.

In the second, Cassie Grant's RBI sacrifice fly knocked in the seventh run while Ashley Romero's bases-loaded walk added the eighth run.

The third inning saw Mann's RBI ground out drive in the ninth run while Overton followed with an RBI ground out of her own.

Coahoma tacked on one more run in the sixth inning to enforce the 10-run mercy rule, as Overton led off the frame with a solo home run to left field.

Kialie Dodson pitched 2.2 innings for Bangs, allowing eight runs on four hits and six walks with one strikeout. Isabell Escobedo finished the contest, giving up three runs on four hits with two walks in 3.1 innings.
