The Texas Sportswriters Association recently revealed its Class 4A All-State Softball team, and a pair of Brownwood Lady Lions were honored.

Junior shortstop Annie Gillispie and junior pitcher Chyanne Ellett both received honorable mention accolades.

“I am very proud of both girls and they are both very deserving of all the success they have had,” said Lady Lions head coach Jessica Lynn. “They are both willing and have put the hard work in to get to where they are right now.”

Gillispie was named the District 5-4A Offensive Player of the Year as she batted .440 with a home run, 24 RBIs, 29 runs scored, nine doubles and three triples.

Ellett, a first-team all-district selection, posted a 21-7 record with one save, a 1.41 ERA, 281 strikeouts and 48 walks over 173.1 innings, while batting .300 with four homers and 18 RBIs.

The Lady Lions finished with a 22-7-1 record and reached the third round of the playoffs.
