GRANBURY – The Brownwood Lady Lions finished their three-day run at the Granbury volleyball tournament with a 4-4 overall record.

After winning two of three matches Thursday, the Lady Lions rallied in their first match Friday for a 17-25, 25-14, 25-11 victory over Lubbock High. Brownwood then fell to Abilene Cooper, 25-16, 25-19 and Copperas Cove, 25-6, 25-15. On Saturday, the Lady Lions dropped a 25-14, 25-9 match to host Granbury, but picked up a forfeit win over Mansfield Timberview, which left the tournament early thinking its schedule was complete.

“We still have things to work on but we are getting better as a team and have held our own against bigger schools,” said Lady Lions first-year head coach Jessica Withrow.

In the win over Lubbock, all-tournament team member Torrey Miller recorded a season-high 21 kills followed by Olivia Fowler with five, Gracie Boswell and Davalynn Monroe with three each, Katelyn Windham and Becca Church with one apiece.

Hadley Monroe tallied 13 assists trailed by Miller with eight, Davalynn Monroe with four, Annie Gillispie with three, and Boswell with one.

Miller also served three aces and Windham added one.

Defensively, Caitlyn Moody and Davalynn Monroe led the way with 11 digs trailed by Miller with 10, Gillispie and Hadley Monroe with six apiece, Church and Lakyn Ratliff with three each, Boswell and Fowler with one apiece.

Miller, Windham, Fowler, Aleyia Cotton and Lindsey Larose notched one block each.

Against Abilene Cooper, Miller tallied seven kills along with Cotton with four, Windham with two, and Fowler with one

Hadley Monroe dished out eight assists, Miller added three, and Davalynn Monroe chipped in one.

Gillispie served two aces, while one each came from Miller and Davalynn Monroe.

On the defensive end, Miller chalked up seven digs trailed by Davalynn Monroe with six, Cotton with four, Moody, Gillispie and Hadley Monroe with two, Boswell and Windham with one apiece.

Boswell and Windham finished with one block each

In Friday’s finale against Copperas Cove, Miller posted four kills, Fowler contributed three, Cotton and Larose tallied two each

Hadley Monroe and Miller both distributed five assists, while Miller served the lone ace.

Moody, Gillispie and Miller amassed five digs each on the defensive end, trailed by Windham with four, Davalynn Monroe and Hadley Monroe with three apiece, and Ratliff and Larose with one each.

Against Granbury, Miller collected six kills followed by Fowler with three and Cotton with one. Miller and Hadley Monroe notched four assists apiece and Gillispie served the only ace.

Defensively, Miller finished with nine digs trailed by Davalynn Monroe with six, Moody and Hadley Monroe with three, Boswell with two and Fowler, Windham and Larose with one apiece.

At the net, Windham recorded two blocks and Fowler contributed one.

The Lady Lions (7-8) are off until Friday when they venture to Graham.
