COPPERAS COVE — The Brownwood High tennis team continued its roll past the Class 6A opponents on its schedule, chalking up victories over Killeen Ellison and Copperas Cove Saturday to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Brownwood’s closest contest with the 14-5 triumph over Copperas Cove.

The Lady Lions swept all six of their singles matches to pace the effort.

Girls singles wins belonged to No. 1 Piper Barberie (6-2, 6-2 over Manuel), No. 2 Mckinzie Adkins (7-5, 6-4 over Abraham), No. 3 Lillian Jonescue (6-4, 6-2 over Pollot), No. 4 Kaytlin Welch (over Kincre), No. 5 Aaliyah Uvalle (6-1, 6-3 over Purdum) and No. 6 Kaylee Renfroe (over Lewis).

The Lady Lions also won two of three doubles matches as victories were claimed by the No. 2 tandem of Adkins and Hannah Netherland (6-4, 7-6 [6] over Kincre and Purdum) and the No. 3 duo of Renfroe and Victoria Ramos (6-4, 6-3 over Gray and Pollot).

On the boys side, singles wins were earned by No. 1 Gabe Hinojosa (7-5, 6-2 over Samarripa), No. 2 Mo Goff (6-3, 6-4 over Chapman), No. 5 Tanner Scull (6-4, 6-2 over Gay) and No. 6 Oscar Ledezma (6-3, 6-1 over Derosia).

The Lions also added a doubles triumph collected by the No. 3 team of Matthew Bundick and Clark Delatorre (6-0, 6-4).

In mixed doubles action, Ledezma and Jonescue tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win over Derosia and Harris.

The Lions and Lady Lions throttled Killeen Ellison by a 17-2 count as all seven doubles matches went in Brownwood’s favor.

For the Lions, the No. 1 team of Hinojosa and Cameron Smith downed Jimenez and Camacho (6-1, 6-3), the No. 2 tandem of Goff and Scull defeated Allen and Gutierrez (6-3, 6-0) and the No. 3 pairing of Delatorre and Bundick trumped Briones and Hernandez (6-0, 6-1).

For the Lady Lions, double victories were secured by No. 1 Barberie and Welch (6-0, 6-0 over Penman and Montgomery), No. 2 Adkins and Jonescue (6-3, 6-1 over Allen and Edwards) and No. 3 Uvalle and Netherland (6-1, 6-1 over Runyon and White).

In mixed doubles, Ramos and James Bautista knocked off Goodman and Cosme (6-3, 7-5 [10-5]).

Picking up singles wins for the Lady Lions were No. 2 Adkins (6-0, 6-0 over Penman), No. 3 Jonescue (6-3, 6-1 over Montgomery), No. 4 Welch (6-1, 6-2 over Allen), No. 5 Renfroe (8-0 over Edwards) and No. 6 Uvalle (6-0, 6-1 over Runyon).

For the Lions, singles wins were locked up by No. 1 Bautista (6-3, 6-4 over Cosme), No. 2 Scull (6-3, 6-2 over Jamirez), No. 3 Bundick (6-1, 6-1 over Camacho), and No. 5 Jacob Ethridge (6-0, 6-0 over Gutierrez).

Brownwood is slated to be back in action at 9:30 a.m. Monday hosting Killeen High.
