The Brownwood High tennis team’s string of seven consecutive victories reached a conclusion as the Lions and Lady Lions lost for just the second time all season, 11-8 to Lampasas Thursday afternoon.

Brownwood (10-2) was blanked on the girls side as the victories were provided by the boys and the mixed doubles team of James Bautista and Lillian Jonescue (6-4, 6-4 over Posey and Beaver).

Notching singles wins for the Lions were No. 1 Gabe Hinojosa (8-6 over Belanger), No. 2 Mo Goff (8-4 over Aguirre), No. 4 Cameron Smith (8-4 over Posey), No. 5 Tanner Scull (8-4 over Gonzalez) and No. 6 Oscar Ledezma (8-3 over Salvato).

In doubles action, wins belonged to the No. 2 team of Goff and Matthew Bundick (6-2, 6-2 over Aguirre and Gonzalez) and the No. 3 duo of Scull and Ledezma (by default).

The Lions and Lady Lions are off until Thursday when they host Glen Rose in the District 7-4A opener.
